Lens Materials at SpecsForVets

Choosing the right lens material is just as important as choosing the right prescription. The material affects not only the weight and thickness of your lenses, but also their durability, comfort, and overall visual experience. At Specs for Vets, we offer two high-quality options to suit a range of prescriptions and lifestyles: Polycarbonate and Hi-Index (1.67) lenses.

Type of lens material

Polycarbonate Lenses

Polycarbonate lenses are lightweight, impact-resistant, and ideal for everyday wear, especially for active lifestyles or children. Their natural durability makes them less likely to crack or break, providing peace of mind without compromising on clarity. Polycarbonate lenses also naturally block harmful UV rays, helping to protect your eyes from long-term sun damage.

Hi-Index (1.67) Lenses

Hi-Index (1.67) lenses are thinner and lighter than standard lenses, making them an excellent choice for stronger prescriptions. By reducing thickness and weight, they provide a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing fit, particularly for rimless or semi-rimless frames. Despite being thin, Hi-Index lenses maintain excellent optical clarity and can also be combined with advanced coatings for added protection and durability.
